Band directors/teachers always say "horns up", which means to get yourself ready for playing because all wind instruments have to be pulled to your face to make a sound out of it. 

But the only horns in concert band are the French horns in F and maybe a trumpet. A flute is a metal rod, a clarinet is a wooden rod with metal keys, etc.
