I think that if you take a longer time on pencil-only traditional art, the more likely there will be smudges. Maybe that only applies to certain people.

I have this problem too! Whenever I do pencil drawings in my sketchbooks they get all smudged up and stuff. That happens only with pencils softer than 2b though (and that's a shame 'cause I'm all about that HB).
